Procedures for Editing Transcripts from Taped Conference Presentations

1. Speakers will receive written transcript proofs in Word for Windows format of your presentation for editing. This will arrive approximately 1-2 weeks after the conference via e-mail.
2. Illustrations, tables and figures may be included, please see below for instructions.
3. Please note the placement of your presentation slides in the transcript.
4. Please refer below for instruction on citing references.
5. The corrected proofs are to be returned via e-mail to Richard Famigiletti (rfamigi@knowledgefoundation.com) within seven to ten days.
6. Upon publication, you will receive one complimentary copy.

Procedures for Contributing Papers for Proceedings

1. Manuscripts should be typewritten and submitted in the form of a computer file plus print-out. We ask for a manuscript of at least 3,000 words. The printed pages should be numbered.
2. Text files should be submitted in Word for Windows format, 6.0 or later.
3. Illustrations are to be delivered together with the manuscript in final form for printing. Please, no photocopies. Originals can be returned to author upon request. All illustrations must be numbered clearly. All captions are to be added on a separate sheet, at the end of the article.
4. Illustrations are black on white or in color.
5. Illustrations may also be delivered in the form of a TIFF or a PDF file.
6. Position of all figures and tables, as desired, must be indicated in pencil in the margin of the main text section of the manuscript.
7. Please add home or university address, fax number, phone number and e-mail address on a separate sheet.
8. Authors will receive page proofs of their article for correction. The corrected page proofs are to be returned to Rich Famigiletti within seven days.
9. Upon publication, you will receive one complimentary copy.

Organization of the Manuscript

1. Printed on 8.5 x 11
2. Double spacing throughout
3. One-inch margins
4. Text typed in a font size of at least ten points
5. Manuscript is to be arranged in the following order:
   • Title Page: Contain names of all authors and their complete mailing addresses to whom all correspondence about the manuscript will be sent.
   • Title
     • Author(s), and complete name(s) of institution(s).
     • Short and informative as possible.
     • Should not exceed two printed lines.
   • Abstract/Summary: Should succinctly and clearly describe the major findings reported in the manuscript and not to exceed 200 words.
   • Introduction: Presents the purpose of the studies reported and should not be an extensive review of the literature nor, in general, exceed two typed pages.
   • Results: A reader should gain a clear picture of the work with sufficient subheadings to make clear how the work was organized and what the key questions being addressed.
   • Discussion: Concise and focused on the interpretation of the results.
   • References: References in the text should be cited as follows: two authors, Smith and Jones, 1996; three or more authors, Smith et al., 1996. References to papers by the same author(s) in the same year should be distinguished in the text and the reference list by the letters a, b, etc. (e.g. 1996a or 1996a, b). References for journals and books should be in the following styles:
